Overview
Shen Jiangfei Martial Arts School
Longhu Mountain — Dragon Tiger Mountain — is one of the most important sites in Chinese Taoism, with a history of religious practice stretching back over 1,900 years. The landscape is dramatic: red sandstone peaks, river gorges, ancient cliff tombs, and Taoist temples scattered across a natural park of extraordinary beauty.
Training kung fu in this environment is a genuinely different experience from the more well-known schools in Henan or Shandong.
Training
The curriculum combines Tai Chi, Shaolin kung fu fundamentals, and a practical self-defence focus. The integration of real-world self-defence application alongside traditional forms is a point of difference from schools that focus exclusively on traditional practice.
Qigong is also taught, and the Taoist mountain environment adds a natural dimension to energy cultivation practice that students consistently note as meaningful.
Getting There
Longhu Mountain is in Jiangxi Province, less commonly visited by foreign travelers than Henan or Shandong. The journey requires more planning — typically flying to Nanchang and then traveling to the mountain by train or bus. Students who make the effort consistently report that the setting justifies it.
Who This School Suits
Shen Jiangfei suits adventurous students who want to combine genuine martial arts training with an extraordinary natural and cultural environment far from the well-trodden kung fu tourist trail. The limited English support means independent travelers will fare better than those who need significant logistical hand-holding.
Students looking for the most foreigner-friendly, English-supported experience should look at Kunyu Mountain or similar schools first. Students willing to embrace a more independent experience will find something here that larger, more accessible schools cannot offer.

Editor's notes
Exceptional natural setting on a Taoist sacred mountain that most foreign visitors never reach. The combination of Shaolin and Tai Chi with a strong self-defence focus is unusual. Off the beaten path — requires more independent travel to reach than schools in Henan or Shandong.
Student experiences
Training was simple, repetitive, and much harder than expected in the first two weeks.
